Job Vacancy: Coordinator

University College Cork (UCC):

University College Cork is one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities, established in 1845. It boasts a vibrant, modern campus with a student experience second to none in Ireland. UCC takes pride in the fact that its research income is consistently one of the highest in the country and its research findings have appeared many times on the pages of leading international media including The Economist. There are c.21,000 full-time students: c.14,000 of these follow undergraduate programmes, while c.5,500 are engaged in postgraduate study and research. UCC’s diverse student-body includes 3,000 international students representing 100-plus countries worldwide. The university’s Centre for Adult Continuing Education serves 2,200 part-time students. The university is one of the larger employers in the region employing c. 2,800 people.

About Us:

China Office, University College Cork

The UCC China Office was founded in 2005, and in the representative of UCC in China, and is managed by Tengda International Education Group Ltd. Over the past 10 years, the China Office has provided educational assistance and service for Chinese students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Helped by the UCC China Office, more than 400 students have gone to UCC for their higher education since its establishment. The China Office has responsibility for recruitment and promotion of UCC in China, including coordinating joint programs between UCC and its partner universities. Currently, over 10 partner universities, diverse joint programmes, student exchange programmes, teacher training etc. are managed by the UCC China Office.

The Position: Coordinator

The successful candidate will act as a Programme Coordinator for UCC in China. This is a full time position where the candidate will be based in Beijing.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

Recruitment:

Marketing courses and helping to recruit students for UCC;

Maintain relationship with current partner universities;

Keep regular contact with UCC International Office, schools and departments;

Consult, suggest and recommend student to relevant courses based on assessment of their suitability;

Process visa applications for students and liaise with Irish Visa Office in Beijing;

Build relationship with education agents;

Branding:

Branding UCC via social networks and web site;

On behalf of UCC attending fairs, conferences, shows and other events related to UCC

Work to identify UCC alumni and keep networking with Irish authorities and networks in China

Administration:

Supporting Office Manager on daily running

Team leading, managing and motivating the team

Provide administrative and logistical support to UCC visiting staff

Please note that this list is not exhaustive – the successful candidate will be expected to perform duties outside of job description.

Person Specification

Degree or Masters Qualification, overseas study experience preferred. A person who graduated from Ireland would be at a distinct advantage for this role;

The candidate may work experience in a business environment, education industry experience preferable, graduates also can be considered;

The candidate must be a highly motivated individual who is confident in selling and marketing through all mediums;

The ability to be able to speak both Chinese and English is a must for this role (CET6/8 or IELTS6.0). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal are essential for this role;

Outstanding time management skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks are highly desirable skills for this role;

The person must be able to work on their own initiative and have the ability to make professional judgments and decisions occasionally without recourse to management;

Excellent ICT skills and the ability to learn new systems is a prerequisite for this role.
