According to the CDC, in 35 of the 47 states that report racial statistics of the pandemic, Black people generally had disproportionately high death rates—more than twice as high as white and Asian Americans. American Indians and Alaska Natives were highest in five states, Asian Americans in four states, white Americans in two states.Longstanding systemic health and social inequities have put many people from racial and ethnic minority groups at increased risk of getting sick and dying from COVID-19.
